Grady Booch is Chief Scientist for Software Engineering at IBM where he leads IBM’s research and development for embodied cognition. Having originated the term and the practice of object-oriented design, he is best known for his work in advancing the fields of software engineering and software architecture. A co-author of the Unified Modeling Language, a founding member of the Agile Alliance, and a founding member of the Hillside Group, Grady has published six books and several hundred technical articles, including an ongoing column for IEEE Software. Grady was also a trustee for the Computer History Museum. He is an IBM Fellow, an ACM Fellow and an IEEE Fellow, has been awarded the Lovelace Medal and has given the Turing Lecture for the BCS, and was recently named an IEEE Computer Pioneer.

César Hidalgo holds an ANITI Chair at the University of Toulouse, an Honorary Professorship at the University of Manchester, and is a visiting Professor at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied SciencCes. Hidalgo is also a founder of Datawheel, a data visualization and distribution company. Prior to joining the University of Toulouse, Hidalgo was a professor at MIT where he directed the Collective Learning group.

Dr. Hidalgo’s research focuses on collective learning–the learning taking place in teams, organizations, and economies. With his group, he develops analytical tools and models to understanding how collective learning takes place, and also, they design tools to help improve the collective learning of organizations.

These tools include The Observatory of Economic Complexity (the world’s leading visualization engine for international trade data), Pantheon (a platform mapping human collective memory), DataViva (a platform visualizing economic data for all of Brazil), Immersion (a tool to visualize personal email networks), DataUSA (the most comprehensive effort to visualize US public data), and DIVE (a generalized tool designed to transform any dataset into a story).

A native of Santiago de Chile and a permanent resident of the US, Hidalgo is the only hispanic faculty of the MIT Media Lab. He holds a PhD in physics from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Hidalgo is the author of Why Information Grows: The Evolution of Order, from Atoms to Economies (Basic Books, 2015), and a co-author of The Atlas of Economic Complexity (MIT, Press 2011).

Dr Loubna Bouarfa is a machine learning scientist turned entrepreneur.

She is the founder and CEO of OKRA Technologies – an artificial intelligence data analytics company for healthcare. OKRA allows healthcare professionals to combine all their data in one place and generate actionable, evidence-based insights in real time, to save and improve human lives.

Loubna is currently a member of the European Union High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence, where she is particularly focused on healthcare and achieving competitive business impact with AI. She was named an MIT Technology Review Top Innovator Under 35, a Forbes 50 Top Women In Tech, and won several prizes, including CEO of Year 2019 at the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards and Best Female-Led Startup at the StartUp Europe Awards.

Dr Christina Colclough specialises in the future world of work(ers) & the politics of technology: digitalisation, ethics of AI, workplace data and AI governance, workers’ data rights. Regarded widely as a thought leader on inclusive digital change she advises a range of unions, CSOs and governmental bodies on future of work issues and responsible tech. She co-developed WeClock. an open-source self-tracking app for workers and Lighthouse, a data governance framework. Christina is a Member of the OECD expert group on A.I and is a member of the UN Secretary General Roadmap for Digital Cooperation stakeholder group. Ivana Bartoletti is a Privacy and Data Protection professional, a media commentator and a public speaker. She is Director of Technology at Deloitte and advises businesses and organisations on best practice and how to comply with privacy legislation at the UK, EU and global level. She works across all sectors, from finance to adtech, and within the energy market. Ivana has extensive knowledge of the Privacy and ethical challenges in the smart and digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and the Internet of Things.

Ivana worked for seven years as an Information Governance Manager at the NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management and has held senior management roles at Barclays Bank and Sky TV. Fabrizio Silvestri is a Research Scientist at Facebook AI London, UK, in the Integrity team.
His interests are in Web Search, and in particular, his specialization is building systems to better interpret queries from users’ search traces.

Prior to Facebook, Fabrizio was a Principal Scientist at Yahoo Research, where he has worked on sponsored search and native advertising within the Yahoo Gemini project.

Fabrizio holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, Italy, where he studied problems related to Web Information Retrieval with particular focus on efficiency issues like caching, collection partitioning, and distributed IR in general.

He authored around 140 research papers, which are published in topmost international peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

JoAnn C. Stonier serves as Chief Data Officer for Mastercard, leading the organization’s data innovation efforts while navigating current and future data risks. She oversees the curation, quality, governance and management of the company’s extensive data assets, as Mastercard increasingly looks to deepen the strategic value it can provide its merchant, banking and government customers and cardholders through its expanding data-driven products and capabilities.

JoAnn previously served as the company’s Chief Information Governance & Privacy Officer, responsible for global privacy and information governance, and leading regulatory engagement for data compliance.

JoAnn is a recognized and highly sought-after thought leader in emergent data and privacy issues.  She has advised industry executives, governments, intergovernmental organizations and NGOs. Currently, she serves on the United Nations Expert Group on Governance and Artificial Intelligence and is Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Data Policy.  JoAnn also serves as a Board Advisor for Truata, a data trust co-founded by Mastercard and IBM, on the Board of Directors and Governance Committee for Hope For The Warriors, a non-profit Veteran service organization, and on the Board of Trustees and Executive & Finance Committees for Academy of Mount St. Ursula, where she attended high school in Bronx, New York.

From Kabul to Geneva to Palo Alto, Joel K. Myhre has been honoured over his two decades of public policy and advanced ICT experience to help bring advanced humanitarian technology innovations to civil society actors across the Pacific Rim, Europe, North America, Africa, & Central Asia. He has worked with a broad swath of Public Health, Counter-terrorism, Humanitarian and Disaster Response entities, in addition to UN and US DoD engagements throughout the Pacific Rim and Europe.

Having implemented UN, ISO, & US geospatial standards globally. Mr. Myhre’s technical geospatial endeavours include Membership in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), co-founder of the California Homeland Security GIS Working Group (now HIFLD), participant in the Global Healthcare Facility Database Initiative, and GEOINT subject matter expert for both the LA FBI’s WMD effort and the ad hoc WHO Advisory Group on Mass Gatherings.

Recent endeavours have focused on global public health alerting and response (WHO Geneva), EOC interoperability in Afghanistan, and use of satellite / mobile / UAV data sources for crisis response. He currently serves as the Geneva engagement lead for the Pacific Disaster Center to liaise with UN, WHO, NGO partners globally v a v COVID19 and all-hazards / DRR.

As a board executive for i2i events (parent company The Guardian Media Group / Apax – Ascential – previously Top Right Group) with the specific remit to rapidly grow the business whilst leveraging operational costs and prepare pre IPO. She sat on the i2i mergers and acquisitions committee identifying, analysing and approaching target businesses and accelerated growth by 22% within 12 months.

Achievements include the launch and acquisition of Money2020 – a leading fintech product. This included negotiation, 3 stage due diligence, its subsequent integration, and the long term geo-adaption into a global portfolio worth over $40m. The launch of World Retail Congress in 10 countries, the re-launch of Cannes Lions festival.

Sarah is a regular keynote speaker on start-ups, business and women / equality related issues and is an ambassador for the Royal Marsden where she champions the use of AI tech in oncology advances.
